I get nervous that we will run out of money in Haiti. We seem to always be on the brink of financial disaster. Yet, we have survived for over three years and what we needed always came, sometimes just minutes before we needed it. Dorothy Day said: “We always get what we need.”  Spirituality, she taught us, always flies in the face of marketplace logic. God opens doors and we come in. It doesn’t make sense to believe in God, to love with his silence. But we do. That made me smile, because I was crazy to just show up in Haiti, rent a small apartment in a small slum…and see what happens. We opened the door and kids kept coming.
