Yesterday around 10:45am, Billy entered my office. He had a troubled look on his face. He sat down on the couch and said, “I made a big mistake.” When he made up the estimate to pave the dirt section of the property, he listed 400 bags of cement. He indicated the cost was $250. He said his mistake was leaving off “a zero.” What? He said the cost was actually $2,500. When we went to the building supply store, the price per 100 bags of cement was slightly lower. We purchased 300 bags for $1,730. I was afraid to put more than that on the credit card. We will still need to buy another 100 bags, which will an additional $578. So, the cost of the 400 bags will come to $2,307…not $250.
