On Wednesday morning, not long after sending my manuscript to the publisher, I was free to tend to some other important work, namely, shopping. Before leaving Haiti, Walencia asked me if I could please bring home sandals for her. I asked her what size she wears. A shrugged shoulder was the answer. I had no idea what size she wore. So, we came up with a solution. Wally stood on a piece of paper and I drew an outline of her foot.
