For over a week I felt some mild irritation in my right armpit. I guessed it had something to do with the deodorant I began to use. My armpits have never been overly receptive to deodorant. But in the last few days, the irritation has grown worse. The lump keeps getting bigger. It is almost the size of a ping-pong ball.

When I woke up yesterday, I was not feeling well. I had an upset stomach and felt as if I had a fever. My mind was preoccupied with the water crisis. Before sunrise I heard a big truck approach the house. I jumped up hoping it was the water truck. It was…but not the one who delivers our water. Our truck has the word DIVINE painted in huge letters across the old tank.

It was 8:20am yesterday. There was a knock on my door. It was Billy. I walked to my window and did not see his car. I asked him, “Did you walk to work?” He said he took a motorcycle taxi. He said all the streets between his home and Santa Chiara are virtually blocked. A motorcycle taxi was his best option.

I wanted to go out to a nearby mini-market yesterday, but the roads were impassible. I walked down the hill to the public market with Cici and Jarline. While they bought fruit for juice for the kids, as well as bread for Friday’s breakfast, I bought carrots for the rabbits. The road down to the market is steep and rocky. Perfect if you are goat.
