Pope Francis said, “Only those not ashamed to touch the wounded flesh of those on the margins will be admitted to God’s kingdom.” I’m not so sure about that. However, to truly follow Christ, I knew I personally needed to go where there was brokenness and profound need. I had to be with the hungry and the hurting. I had to be with people struggling with mental and physical limitations, to be with the “wounded flesh.”
