In the years that I was teaching a special two-week course on writing at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, I often ate in the Jesuit quarters atop the university. During those meals I met many interesting Jesuits from around the world. One was from Ireland and he taught fundamental theology at the Greg. His name was Michael Paul Gallagher. He had written several books on faith and contemporary society.
