From March 29, 2021 Fr. Tom was the celebrant of the Palm Sunday celebrant…and he was in rare form. In proper liturgical form, the celebration began with an outdoor procession into chapel. The Sisters had on small table near the Grotto of Our Lady the lectionary, the palms, and holy water.
From March 28, 2021 Mitch Albom is back in Haiti, this time for a week. We both return to the States next Friday. He sent Yonel, his top guy in Haiti, to pick up three of our kids. They spent the day at Mitch’s orphanage.
From March 27, 2021 Late last Sunday afternoon, there was a championship soccer game outside our gate. I was asked to sponsor it by donation money for gas to be used in a generator that would power the sound system. I also bought a new soccer ball.
From March 26, 2021 I was looking forward to seeing Tom at Mass on Monday at the MC Sisters. But little Moïse felt there was no need for me to sleep the night before. Being deprived of sleep by the infant’s crying I simply did not have the energy to go to the Sisters.
From March 25, 2021 When Naïve came home from school yesterday, she marched right upstairs and into my office, and said, “Dad me hungry. I want toast.” I had to laugh. She must have had visions of toasted dinner rolls dancing in her head at school.
From March 24, 2021 This was my favorite moment of the day. As daylight begins to fade, I often just sit alone on a bench at the back of the yard. Watching and scaring the rats is my only form of entertainment. It doesn’t take long for a string of kids to come sit with me.
From March 23, 2021 The cross is a symbol of tension, a place where the vertical (heaven) and the horizontal (earth) intersect. The cross is also a sign of sacrifice, a place where Christ listened to God, trusted God, was obedient to God, and became one with God in an act of total abandonment.
From March 22, 2021 When St. Francis began to understand that his life was a gift of love, he desired nothing else than that his life become a loving gift to God and others. This shift in consciousness did not happen all at once.
From March 21, 2021 On Friday, Billy and Patrick made the very dangerous trip downtown to bring Dieuvena home from the hospital. The had to find many different alternative paths to the hospital as downtown has become so dangerous and littered with so many barricades of burning tires few venture into downtown.
From March 20, 2021 Mimi, who is on our staff, is now Moise’s daytime nanny. All day long, kids visit Moise.
