In recent days, I’ve often spoken about the sense of fear and uncertainty that fills the air in Haiti. Over the last few years in occasional private conversations with a few friends I said how I often just want to leave Haiti and never come back. When asked why I keep coming back, I always say the kids compel me to come back. But a bigger question is how do I stay?

This short video shot this morning on the main road connecting downtown Port-au-Prince to Petionville illustrates what we face on a daily basis. The burning tire roadblocks severely disrupt traffic and hinder necessary commerce.
