A Journal Flashback: A Cruel Tyrant

Pervasive and destructive poverty is a cruel tyrant. The poor are vulnerable to disease and natural disasters. The unjust distribution of resources leaves them living in constant need. More than 1.5 billion people worldwide are forced to subsist on less than a dollar a day. About 850 million people are undernourished, with the number of chronically hungry people growing at a rate of nearly five million a year.
