Even after essentially living in Haiti for 8 years, there is much about the country that I do not understand. Someone recently wrote that I started SCCC “from scratch with ‘no scratch.’” It was a clever way of saying I came to Haiti with nothing and had nothing in my wallet. All I had was a dream and a deep desire to help children. There was no multi-step plan.
