In Haiti, you do what needs to be done withing the limitations of what you have. The old school house was poorly constructed and in need of major repairs. It was better to knock it down and start over.

While Step and I were shopping for my special dietary needs as well as medicine for our clinic, Michel and his brother Bernard drove to another section of Pétionville where the met Gabens to do the big food shopping for the kids and staff. Because of all the rain last week, they were unable to shop for food as many roads were either flooded or became rivers of mud.
