On my way to Kenya in January 2012 I meditated on the notion that within Jesus divinity and humanity are wed and how in this mystical marriage divine love is manifested within the essence of everything. Like Jesus, I’m called to trust in and surrender to the love of God, even though I mostly fail at this seemingly simple yet supremely tough task.
It is the inspiration of Pedro Arrupe, SJ, that animates my mission in Haiti.

During my recent, stressful trip to Haiti we incurred a number of unexpected expenses associated with the numerous hospital lab tests of three children and the emergency surgery of the mother of one our children. I came home deeply concerned about our financial picture. We owe more on our credit cards that we have in the bank. I was relieved and very grateful to find envelopes from 33 people who collectively donated $5,830. I had to return a few other checks because they were made out to Santa Chiara instead of Pax et Bonum Communications.
